Noreen Brennan, PhD, RN-BC, NEA-BC

Noreen B. Brennan has been a registered professional nurse for thirty-one years.  She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from St. Francis University, in Loretto, Pennsylvania. She holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Nursing Administration and Nursing Education, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing Theory and Research Development from New York University (NYU) and is an inaugural graduate of the Coldiron Senior Nurses Executive Fellowship Program created by the Marian K. Shaughnessy Nurse Leadership Academy at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Brennan holds dual board certification in Adult Medical Surgical Nursing and Nursing Administration-Advanced from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She serves on the board of directors for Nurses Houses, NYU Nursing Alumni Association, Northeast Multistate Division, and the Pleasantville Community Scholarship Fund. Dr. Brennan is active in many professional organizations and is the elected state treasurer and executive board member for the New York State Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders (NYONEL). She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau- Nursing Honor Society, American Organization of Nurse Leaders, American Nurses Association, New York State Nurses Association, and the Center for Nursing Research. Most recently Dr. Brennan is a member of the inaugural Johnson & Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellowship Program through Penn Nursing and Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Over the last thirty years, she has held progressive leadership positions, including Chief Nursing Officer. Currently, Dr. Brennan is the Chief Nurse Executive of the James J. Peters Veterans Administration Medical Center located in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Brennan has presented nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, with her primary area of research focus on nursing work environments and care for hospitalized older adults. An avid supporter of nursing education and research, Dr. Brennan is a member of the adjunct faculty at Pace and Case Western Reserve Universities. Dr. Brennan resides in Pleasantville, New York with her husband and four children- Aidan, Norah, Catie, and Tiernan.
