Bourne Legacy Circle

Nurses across the country are indebted to the legacy of Emily Bourne. When she passed away in 1922, Bourne bequeathed $300,000 in her will to provide a place for nurses to rest and recover from injury, illness, or disability. This bequest established Nurses House, which has since grown into a national organization.

In the years since the original bequest that established Nurses House, we have received millions of dollars in bequests and donations from people across the county, including nurses, to continue our mission.

Even though Nurses House no longer operates out of the home originally purchased with her bequest, Emily Bourne’s legacy continues to this day.

Over the past 100-plus years, Nurses House has helped thousands of registered nurses in need with healthcare and housing costs through personal grants.

Join our Legacy Circle

Not everyone has a sizable estate, but everyone has the opportunity to support nurses and have an impactful legacy, just as Bourne did. Those who choose to bequeath a portion of their estate in their will to Nurses House greatly assist our ability to fulfill her wishes and continue our mission of helping nurses in need.

Planned estate giving begins with talking to your attorney and Stephanie Dague, Director of Development.  Any amount you bequest through our planned giving program will make a difference and pass on your love and care to others.
