Mary Anne Gallagher, DNP, RN Ped-BC

Mary Anne Gallagher, DNP, RN, Ped-BC, Director of Nursing at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and adjunct professor at Adelphi University.  Dr. Gallagher graduated with a BSN from Hunter College, received her Master’s in Nursing from New York University and DNP from Case Western Reserve University. Her clinical background is pediatrics and women’s health. Dr. Gallagher is ANCC  certified in Pediatric Nursing. She was the nurse executive to lead the design, opening and cultural transformation of a new children’s hospital. Throughout her career, she has led improvement initiatives, managed extensive service lines, and facilitated strategic financial initiatives. Quality and safety, the heart of her work, has driven her focus on reducing patient and staff harm credited to harnessing a collective drive for excellence. Dr. Gallagher is an experienced American Nurses Association, Sigma Upsilon and New York University Rory Meyer College of Nursing mentor and preceptor for graduate nurses’ performance improvement and research projects. Dr. Gallagher is a board member for Nurses House since 2013 and served as Secretary 2020- 2023.  She is also President of NYU Rory Meyers’ College of Nursing Alumni, previously Vice President 2020-2022 and Board member from 2019. She has conducted research and authored publications on the financial impact and gratitude of COVID-19 on nurses who were grantees of emergency funding administered by Nurses House, Inc. Dr. Gallagher has authored manuscripts on community CPR, childhood asthma, nurse leader’s role in construction, pay for performance, women’s health, and research. Dr. Gallagher was awarded the NYU Meyers’ Distinguished alumni award 2022.  Mary Anne resides in New York City.
