Elizabeth Mahoney, EdD, MS, RN – Vice President

Betty Mahoney was born and raised in Boston, MA. She received a BS in nursing from Boston College. Her first positions in nursing were with the Visiting Nurses Association and as per diem evening staff at Boston City Hospital. She moved to New York in 1964 to teach at New Rochelle Hospital School of Nursing, where she also worked as a per diem staff nurse in the evenings. She received her MS from Hunter College in NYC and her EdD from Teacher’s College at Columbia University. She served as Chair of the Department of Nursing and Professor of Nursing at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She retired from Russell Sage in 2005. Betty is actively involved, including as an officer, in several professional nurses associations including the Catholic Nurses Association of NY, Nurses House, ANA-NY, ANA and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. She is a co-author and editor of three nursing texts and she is a site visitor for nursing programs. She has thoroughly enjoyed nursing and travelling (air, land and sea) to all 50 states and 5 continents.
