Barbara Sommer has been an active member of the Nurses House community for more than 15 years. The Dolphins for Nurses fundraiser was a big part of her life while working at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn for 43 years. Barbara is a retired RN with a master’s degree from Brooklyn College. She graduated from Kings County Nursing School in 1969. During her active years working, she had many different nursing responsibilities and enjoyed all. Barbara is an active member of the Kings County Alumni Association. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband of 53 years. They have 2 wonderful children, 5 amazing grandchildren and a grand dog- Zeke! Barbara enjoys reading historical fiction and arts and crafts.
