Maria, also know as Meloi or Maria Despues, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Velez College in Cebu Phillipines in 1988. She came to the United States with nursing classmates and started her career at Metropolitan Hospital in NYC. She currently works at Northwell Health/Syosset Hospital. Meloi is a member of NYSNA and an avid supporter of Nurses House.
